Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden title for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused some to question if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an better serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He saved four initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
