From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his own means, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the group access locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
